Dichpally: Telangana University (TU) on Thursday launched the English language club to impart the English language skills among the students of various disciplines at Dichpally main campus. TU Registrar Prof R Limbadri inaugurated the club.

Addressing the students on the occasion, Prof Limbadri said, “English is an international language and the mastery over it will give you sure advantage.”

Emphasising the fact that most of the rural students who were having great subject knowledge were losing out in the competition as they lacked good communication skills in English language, he stated that it was time that they need to hone their English language skills and take advantage in the competitive world.

Delivering the keynote address, English expert Prof Sumita Roy of the Osmania University, told the students to learn the language through basic language learning skills like Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.

She advised the students to join the English Language Club and learn in an interactive and participative way. “Practicing on real life situations and constant self motivation to learn the language are the key to get a grip on the foreign language,” she added.

English Department Head Dr Ramana Chary explained the objectives of the newly formed English Language Club and added that it was aimed at imparting the Basic English language skills among the students and help them practice it. There was a tremendous response from the students for the practical sessions organised as part of the club activity, he stated.
