Hyderabad: Continuing with its policy to accord high priority to irrigation projects, the Telangana State government would be allocating Rs 25,000 crore in the budget. Stating this on Friday at a review meeting, the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao directed the officials to remove all administrative hurdles in completion of the projects.

Remove all hurdles to meet people’s expectations: Chief Minister Officials asked to avoid delays in payment to contractors “Efforts are on to meet their expectations and we need to provide jobs for the unemployed youth in the State. We need to offer the best services to the people avoiding delays,” KCR stated at a review meeting with the Irrigation department officials at the Secretariat.

The Chief Minister directed officials to prepare a plan to avoid delays and ensure that bills are paid to the contractors on time. “Against the previous custom of carrying out projects for decades, the present government wants to complete them in just a span of three years,” he averred.

The TRS is committed to complete irrigation projects to ensure that the agriculture sector gets waters on time for better yield. KCR also felt that the ongoing projects should be completed as per schedule with coordinated efforts. He asked the officials to expedite the Palamur and Dindi projects on Krishna, Kaleshwaram, Pranahita and Dummugudem projects on Godavari rivers.

Expressing satisfaction over land acquisition for the projects, the Chief Minister asked the officials to prepare a plan to directly give bills to the irrigation department through budgetary allocations to disburse bills among the contractors.

Every year Rs 25,000 crore will be allotted to Mission Kakatiya and payments should be made to irrigation and Mission Kakatiya schemes. He also ordered to give away one per cent of the incentives to contractors working for three shifts for the speedy completion of projects.
