The six ruling TRS leaders of Bhadrachalam Agency in Khammam district who were being held captive by the Communist Party of India (Maoist) since three days have been freed on Saturday.

TRS in-charge for Bhadrachalam constituency M. Ramakrishna was among the six leaders of the TRS party who were abducted on Wednesday. The abduction in the region came to light on Thursday after the TRS leaders did not return home after their visit to the remote village sending panic in the ruling party's cadre.

The Maoists made three demands in the letter they released that included an immediate halt to 'fake encounters' and combing operations. They warned to target TRS leaders if the demands were not met.
