Hyderabad: Congress senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao has accused the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) of not conducting proper enumeration of Backward Class voters.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Monday, Hanumantha Rao said that the percentage of BC voters has reduced to around 26 per cent in the GHMC area. He claimed that BCs constitute nearly 50 per cent of the total population in the GHMC limits but due to erratic enumeration, their percentage has reduced. He added this would have a direct impact on the 33 per cent BC reserved seats.
The Congress veteran alleged that the reduction in BC voters' percentage was due to a conspiracy hatched by the State Government. TPCC Spokesperson G Niranjan said that the Congress party would make a representation on this issue to the State Election Commission. He also alleged that the BC voters’ percentage was deliberately dropped at the instance of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
“The GHMC's new Commissioner Dr B Janardhan Reddy has been following the footsteps of his predecessor Somesh Kumar in implementing the diktats of KCR,” he alleged.
