Sangareddy: With a view to strengthen its party cadres and to penetrate into new areas, CPI (M) has decided to hold high-level meetings of its state committee on November 29 and 30. The observations and suggestions regarding strengthening of the party would be communicated to the central committee, which would discuss them at the national-level meetings. CPI (M) All India General Secretary, Sitaram Yechury would be participating in the meetings.

Speaking to the media at Sangareddy on Thursday, CPI (M) State Secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram said the objective of the meetings was to revive the party base, know the strengths and weaknesses and to expand into areas where the party lacks its presence.

Speaking about the Warangal bypoll results, he observed that it was the Telangana sentiment which still prevailed in the society, which had helped the TRS win. He said the discontent among the people could not be converted into votes against the ruling party in the elections. He added that the people couldn’t see an alternative to the government among the opposition parties, the reason why Congress, BJP and TDP suffered a setback in the elections.

Pointing out the fresh promises made by the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao about regularising the contract employees, he wondered why the CM had lent a deaf ear to the strike of ASHA workers, municipal workers and the Panchayat workers. He suspected that the CM was only trying to gain mileage for winning the GHMC and MLC elections, which are round the corner, the reason why he made announcements one day before the election code came into effect.

He also found fault with the State government for not declaring certain drought-hit mandals in the declaration sent to the Centre. He said the Central government needs to review issues like growing intolerance, discrimination and attacks on the marginalised people and the debate about reservations brought up by the RSS. He stated that the party would be demanding for reservations in private sector in the ongoing Parliament session. He revealed that a candidate from CPI would be contesting the MLC seat in Khammam with the support of CPI (M).
