Nizamabad: With the notification of the State Election Commission Local Authorities Constituency council member elections, aspirants from all the parties began their attempts in obtaining the MLC ticket from their respective parties.
The Election Commission (EC) is conducting elections for 12 MLC constituencies in Telangana State. With Nizamabad district having only one MLC constituency, there is a tough fight among the party leaders for obtaining the ticket in ruling TRS and TDP, BJP parties also.
In TRS, several candidates are expecting the MLC ticket. Mainly, Bhoopathi Reddy, Janardhan Goud, S A Aleem and Dr Bapu Reddy are in the race. Of the four candidates, Dr Bhoopathi Reddy has been working from the time the party was established. He was also a two time In-charge of Nizamabad Rural constituency. He missed the MLA ticket twice to contest from Rural constituency due to various reasons.
Presently, Dr Bhoopathi Reddy has been claiming that earlier Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao promised to give him MLC ticket. According to the sources, Dr Bhoopathi Reddy met Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday and KCR assured to give him the ticket to contest in the local bodies MLC elections.
The other candidates, Yellareddy former MLA Janardhan Goud, Nizamabad Minority leader S A Aleem and Dr Bapu Reddy were also expecting the local bodies’ MLC ticket. But they have joined in the party recently.
In Nizamabad district, 766 local bodies’ voters were there in total of which nearly 75 per cent voters were from ruling TRS party. Due to this fact, it seems that TRS would have an easy win in the only MLC constituency in the district.
According to unofficial sources, Congress party was planning to give ticket to former Irrigation Minister P Sudarshan Reddy. Sudarshan Reddy has not given a nod regarding the matter. In case he was not interested, the ticket may be given to Antireddi Raji Reddy, the sources said.
It is still not decided whether TDP and BJP parties would field a common candidate. But party insiders say that former TDP MLC Aarikela Narsa Reddy would be contesting from TDP-BJP alliance.
