Stage is all set to offer Maha Harathi to River Godavari. The offering of Harathi to the River at various places from Basara to Bhadrachalam started from November 22 and would be concluded with Maha Harathi to be held on November 29 at Dharmapuri, considered to be the South Kashi.

The 45-minute long Harathi will start at 5.30 pm and concludes at 6.15 pm. Rudrayagam will be performed in the morning on the same day and cultural programmes including Perini dance will be organised in the evening

Karimnagar: Stage is all set to offer Maha Harathi to River Godavari. The offering of Harathi to the River at various places from Basara to Bhadrachalam started from November 22 and would be concluded with Maha Harathi to be held on November 29 at Dharmapuri, considered to be the South Kashi.

Datta Peetadhipathi Ganapathi Sachidananda Swamy and three pundits from Kashi will participate in the programme wherein about 20,000 devotees are expected to participate.

The 45-minute long Harathi will start at 5.30 pm and concludes at 6.15 pm. Rudrayagam will be performed in the morning on the same day and cultural programmes including Perini dance would be organised in the evening.

With a view to spread the importance of River Godavari among the public, Godavari Maha Harathi Utsava Committee has been organising Maha Harathi programme for the past three years.

Instead of dropping coins made with mixed materials, the Committee decided to distribute copper coins to the devotees as copper has the power to purify water.

Speaking to The Hans India, Utsava Committee general secretary L Veeragopal informed that they were getting coins from Gujarat.

Though they have planned to distribute coins to all the devotees who participate in Maha Harathi, but it was not materialised due to various reasons. Not coins would be distributed to only a few important people, he said.
