Nizamabad: Unable to clear his debts, a farmer, Muguru Pochaiah (48), committed suicide in the district by consuming pesticides in Sajjanapalli village of Lingampet mandal in the district on Sunday.

Pochaiah (48) used to cultivate crops on his two acres of land. He borrowed money worth Rs 4 lakh to cultivate crops and dig bore wells on his land, Due to the drought in the district his crops withered away and he was not in a position to clear his debts.

A distraught Pochaiah consumed pesticides on Sunday after when he was alone at home.

On receiving information from the local people, the police rushed to the house and sent the dead body to the hospital. The Lingampet police took up investigation.
