‘Achieve 100% targets on NREGP works’

Nalgonda: District Collector P Satyanarayana Reddy on Friday directed the Mandal Development Officers (MPDOs) to prepare an action plan to achieve the targets set for National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP).
Addressing a review meeting regarding the progress of the NREGP works with the MPDOs, Assistant Project Officers (APOs) and field Assistants at the Collectorate, Satyanarayana Reddy said that the MPDOs should undertake field visits and fix the number of working days to the labourers on the basis of their skills.
The District Collector underlined the need to provide work to all the labourers to prevent migrations in the drought conditions. He instructed the officials to take steps to improve the attendance of the workers and start the NREGP works at all the villages in the district.
Making it clear that the services of the officials, who fail to achieve the targets were not required, Satyanarayana Reddy said that the labourers must not go without work. He also expressed his anger when the officials attributed the poor attendance of labourers to the cotton picking works. He suggested that the works relating to the feeder channel, roads and dumping yards should be given top priority.
