Warangal: Charging the BJP-led NDA government of indulging in hate politics, the Congress cadres across the district on Saturday staged protests and took out rallies for foisting cases against AICC President Sonia Gandhi and Vice-President Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case and harassing them.

In Hanamkonda, the Congress cadres led by the City President, Tadisetty Vidyasagar, staged a road blockade and burned the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking at the dharna, Vidyasagar alleged that though the NDA government was using the State agencies to target its political opponents, the Congress would not remain a passive spectator and would continue to fight for the rights of the poor.

“The National Herald case is a political vendetta. The accusations against Sonia and Rahul were similar to that of vindictive cases against the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, which later fizzled out,” he said, asserting that both their top leaders would come clean besides enhancing their image further.

TPCC secretaries EV Srinivas Rao and Bathini Srinivas Rao, senior leaders Kona Srikar, Binny Laxman, Gottimukkula Ramana Reddy, Namdindla Srinivas, Vadika Satish, Sita Shyam and Rohit Singh Thakur were among other leaders present at the dharna. The police, who arrested the stirring leaders, let on station bail. Speaking to The Hans India, TPCC secretary Bakka Judson said that despite the evil designs of the BJP, the Congress has complete faith in the judiciary and would fight the battle legally in the court.

It may be mentioned here that later in the day, both Sonia and Rahul, who appeared before the Patiala House Court in connection with the National Herald case, have got bail. In 2012, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy filed a case alleging that Congress leaders were involved in cheating and breach of trust in the acquisition of Associated Journals Ltd (AJL) by Young Indian Pvt Ltd.
