Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, assured that the Congress party would promote youth in the forthcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections. Addressing the meeting of Greater Hyderabad Youth Congress workers at Gandhi Bhavan here on Saturday, he said the Congress party was strong in the city and it would win the GHMC polls. He said in the past Congress had committed a mistake of aligning with MIM.

The TPCC chief also accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of indulging in publicity stunts to divert people's attention from the real issues. He said the Chandi Yagam being conducted by KCR was aimed at self promotion and people would not gain anything out of it.

He also accused the TRS government of delaying the projects launched by the previous Congress government. Greater Hyderabad Congress president Danam Nagender said the Congress party was fully geared up to contest the GHMC elections and claimed that it would capture the Mayor's post. He said the State ministers were touring the city only in view of GHMC elections and they were not serious about development.

Telangana Youth Congress president Anil Kumar Yadav demanded that the TPCC reserve 20 per cent tickets for youth in the forthcoming elections. He said Congress would grow stronger if it promotes youth by giving them an opportunity to contest and win GHMC elections.

The meeting was also addressed by former minister J Geetha Reddy, AIYC General Secretary Harsh Vardhan, Ranga Reddy DCC president Kayam Mallesh, ex-MP G Vivek, ex-MLA D Sudheer Reddy and GHYC president Venkat.
