Hyderabad: Telangana film fraternity has come out in support of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao performing “Ayutha Maha Chandi Yagam” and lends their helping hand in giving it a wide publicity.

As part of their effort, the film personalities have produced a 10 minute documentary to depict the origin and history of the “most powerful yagam.”

“We want to showcase the epic effort being taken by our Chief Minister since it is first time ever that a democratically-elected leader is performing the yagam for the well-being of society by spending money from his own pocket” said Sana Yadi Reddy, president of the Telangana Producers and Mini Theatres Owners Co-operative society. He had funded the production of documentary. “We are expecting 30 lakh views on YouTube and other social media cycles” he hoped.

Seasoned director Allani Sridhar, who conceived the project and directed the 10-minute documentary, said, “We referred to various texts, including Padma Puranam. This type of yagam was performed by King Dileepudu, ancestor of Lord Rama, and then by revered Godman Sankaracharya of Sringeri Mutt. But it is the first time that the yagam is being performed by a head of the State for the well-being of his subjects. Around 1,500 priests will chant mantras 10,000 times on 120 yagam platforms,” he said.

Even though, TV channels and media is covering the event live, but this documentary is meant to showcase the origin, history and impact of such a magnificent ritual which has blessings of Sringeri Mutt and Chinna Jeeyar Swamy and to be attended by President of India and other top dignitaries in the next five days. “Very few know its origin, history and impact and our effort is like devotee offering a flower to Goddess Chandi since she is ultimate destroyer of evil,” he added. “First we want to enlighten people through various media and later participate in international film festival with more footage and facts, said Allani.
