Hyderabad: The outsourcing nurses have on Tuesday called off their strike, which they have been doing since December 10. Their decision came in the wake of assurance from Health Minister

C Laxma Reddy. The Minister discussed the problems with the outsourcing nurses at Gandhi Hospital and assured them that they would be given preference while recruiting the staff nurses.

Regarding the implementation of the recommendations of the 10th pay revision committee, the Minister said that the matter would be examined after the budget session.

Gandhi Hospital staff nurses, outsourcing and contract committee members B Upendra Goud and Madhulatha said that though the Minister didn’t give any clear assurance over the issue of weightage regarding regularisation of their services at the time of recruitment, they decided to call off the strike based on the Minister’s assurance that the government would call them for talks within two weeks. Meanwhile, Commercial Taxes Minister Srinivas Yadav inaugurated 30 ventilators in the hospital.
