Officials told to identify lands for 2 BHK houses

District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar directed the Special Officers of various Assembly constituencies in the district to identify vacant lands for the construction of double bedroom houses (2BHK) in all the constituencies and submit a report by January 5.

Khammam: District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar directed the Special Officers of various Assembly constituencies in the district to identify vacant lands for the construction of double bedroom houses (2BHK) in all the constituencies and submit a report by January 5.

Addressing a review meeting with the Special Officers and RDOs at the Technical Training and Development Centre (TTDC) in the town on Saturday, the District Collector told them to scout for proper places for construction of double bedroom houses. He inquired about the progress of works in identifying the places in various constituencies.

The officials told the District Collector that they had identified the places in Kothagudem, Yellandu, Aswaraopet, Wyra and Khammam constituencies for double bedroom houses and the works were at the final stage in Pinaka, Palair and Sattupalli constituencies.

Lokesh Kumar suggested to the officers concerned that the final report must be submitted to the Committee by January 5 and must get the approval from a Committee which would be constituted under the chairmanship of Roads and Buildings Minister Thummala Nageshwar Rao.

He said that while the District Collector (himself) would be the convenor and the MLAs along with the special officers of the Assembly constituencies would be members of the Committee. After getting the approval from the Committee regarding the places, works would be taken up after calling for tenders, the District Collector added.

He also said that by conducting the Gram Sabhas in the villages applications would be received from the poor people who do not have houses. After receiving the applications and identifying the real beneficiaries, the double bedroom houses would be allotted through the lottery system.

Khammam RDO Vinay Krishna Reddy, Kothagudem RDO Ravindranath, Special Officers of various Assembly Constituencies Jagath Kumar Reddy, Venu Manohar, Anjenya Sharma, Achyuthananda Gupta, Srinivas Ramesh and Mohan were present.
