Hyderabad: In a significant decision, the Telangana Cabinet on Saturday decided to construct two dedicated drinking water reservoirs for Hyderabad with a capacity of 40 tmcft of water.

One reservoir would be constructed near Outer Ring Road at Rachakonda and the other at Shamirpet. Stating this after the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said the ILFS had agreed to give a loan of Rs 7,500 crore for this project.

It had also decided to shift the Race Course and Chanchaluda jail to city outskirts. The Chief Minister said the Race Course had asked for 200 acres of land and the issue was under consideration. In another significant decision, the government decided to reduce the power tariff for 18,000 saloons in the state.

So far all saloons were being charged commercial power tariff. Henceforth saloons consuming 200 units will be charged as per domestic tariff.
