Hyderabad: The BJP on Monday formally launched its poll campaign for the GHMC elections. Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, who kick started the campaign from Malkajgiri, said Hyderabad had become epicentre for terrorists’ activities in the country due to vote-bank politics. “Every terror incident in the country has a link with Hyderabad,”

Gadkari said and appealed to the citizens to be careful in exercising their franchise. He called upon the voters not to vote for “old-city based anti-national parties” who have been resisting the development of the country.

Referring to the Centre’s nod to the road projects in Telangana, Gadkari said the Centre was also ready to make Hyderabad a world class city and it would be even easier if the TDP and BJP are voted to power in the GHMC elections.

Union Minister for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya alleged that state IT Minister KT Rama Rao has been criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi only to impress All-India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) in order to capture the Mayor post. “Every vote to TRS will contribute to AIMIM to win the GHMC poll,” he added. Coming down heavily on the state government,

Telangana Telugu Desam Party (TTDP) working president A Revanth Reddy said the BJP and TDP would decide the fate of Hyderabad city by capturing the Mayor seat in the ensuing Greater Hyderabad Municipal (GHMC) elections. Revanth Reddy said the law and order situation in the city had become pathetic during the 19-months TRS rule.

He alleged that the state government had failed even to arrest incidents of chain snatching. He questioned as to how can a CM develop city when he cannot protect women living in it? BJP floor leader in the Assembly K Lakshman said the recent surveys reports released by various agencies have been manipulated by the TRS and it was also a part of mind game to lure the corporator aspirants into the party.

Despite KCR's undemocratic methods, the TDP and BJP will win the elections with thumping majority, he added.
