Dr S Sridhar, Principal Scientist, Chemical Engineering Division of Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) has been honoured with the prestigious Hindustan Lever Biennial Award for ‘Most Outstanding Chemical Engineer of the Year 2015’ by Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE).

Hyderabad: Dr S Sridhar, Principal Scientist, Chemical Engineering Division of Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) has been honoured with the prestigious Hindustan Lever Biennial Award for ‘Most Outstanding Chemical Engineer of the Year 2015’ by Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE).

Dr Sridhar was awarded for his innovative and creative work in the area of chemical engineering. The award consists of an award plaque, a citation and a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh. He contributed immensely to the rural welfare in fluorosis affected villages through design and installation of 12 model defluoridation plants for purification of ground water.

The plants provided clean and safe drinking water to a population of more than 1 lakh population in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Dr Sridhar recently designed and commissioned several highly compact, low cost, high capacity (100200 L/h) water purification systems for schools, hostels and hospitals.

He made significant contributions in basic and applied research in gas purification and published about 116 research papers including six review articles in reputed international journals.
