Students argue their case in ‘court’
The students of Zilla Parishad High School at Gangirenigudem of Shayampet mandal in the district have performed an inspiring mock court.
Shayampet (Warangal): The students of Zilla Parishad High School at Gangirenigudem of Shayampet mandal in the district have performed an inspiring mock court.
The programme was organised on Saturday under the aegis of school’s social science teacher Kaleshwaram Prakasham, in a bid to create legal awareness among the students and educate them about various laws, acts and sections.
A student, called L Lavanya acted as the judge, while A Akhila, A Pravalika, B Ravali, B Mounika, M Bindu, M Diyva and P Mounika acted as lawyers and donned costumes fitting their roles. A student, V Akshay acted as the bench clerk at court.
The students have dealt with the cases pertaining to IPC sections 304B, 498A, 506, 509, 372, PD Act and others. The audience comprising the students, teachers and local villagers witnessed the court proceedings enacted by the students in a serious and true manner as done in a real court. Speaking on the occasion, Shayampet mandal Education Officer Yadava Reddy congratulated the students for their performance and appreciated the teachers who trained them. Programmes like this would help the students to learn about laws and could boost their legal knowledge, he added.
Earlier, the school teacher Prakasham conducted awareness programme on the articles of Indian constitution, Mission Kakatiya, Haritha Haram and ‘She Teams’ initiative by the State government.
‘We have participated in mock Parliament, mock Assembly and Meet the Press in the past. Participating in mock Court enabled us to learn about the functioning of the court, laws and legal acts,’ said students Pravalika and Mounika.
Gangirenigudem Sarpanch P Krishna Murthy, teachers D Satish, B Srinivas, P Kishan, P Viveksagar, Mumtaz Ali, K Shanker, local MPTC, ward members and others witnessed the mock court.
