Yellampalli land oustees stage rasta roko

Karimnagar: Land oustees of Yellampalli irrigation project on Tuesday staged a road blockade at the Velgatur crossroads demanding the compensation from the State government which was still pending.

As many as 500 land oustees from the surrounding four villages squatted on the main road bringing the vehicular traffic on Dharmaram-Rayapatnam Bridge to a standstill for about two hours.

Agitating people led by the Congress Dharmapuri constituency in-charge Laxman Kumar refused to withdraw their protest and demanded a clear assurance from the district administration. They withdrew their demonstration when the officials assured them that pending compensation amount would be paid soon.
