Hyderabad: Students studying in the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) will now get e-health cards thanks to the Telangana governments imitative to monitor health of the students studying in 43 KGBVs across the State.

Accordingly, the government has accorded permission to the Samhita Social Ventures (SSV) under Tata Consultancy Services to give health cards to the students. On the pilot project basis, the SSV under corporate social responsibility will monitor health of 8,600 girl students in 43 KGBVs.

Upon undergoing check-up, the SSV will feed details of the health of the students and e-health cards will be given to the students. Beside KGBVs, students studying in the Zilla Parsihad High Schools of Gajwel constituency of Medak district which happens to be the home constituency of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The government has accorded permission to monitor the health of 3,000 students in over 12 ZPHSs

“Even if the students leave the schools, the cards will help doctors to know about the health history of the students,” said an official of Directorate of School Education. Further, the government intends to bear the medical expenses of the students if they are found to have health complications.

However, the teachers in the government schools have felt that project may not work out as similar project “Jawahar Balala Aarogaya Raksha” was undermined.
