Speaking to the media on occasion, Ganesh Gupta said that the problem of supplying drinking water to the municipal corporation was taken up and discussed at the general body meeting of the corporation and it was also brought to the notice of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and other ministers.

He said the Nizamsagar project had only 395 mctf of water at the dead storage level, but the TRS government released the water to the project to meet the drinking water needs of the people in Nizamabad and Bodhan towns at least for the next eight months.

He urged the people to utilise this water carefully to overcome the drinking water problems during this summer. Later, Satyasheela Reddy, the Executive Engineer of the Irrigation Department said that the Irrigation department released 210 mcft of water to the Alisagar project, 80 mcft to Bellal Tank, 15 mcft to various drinking water schemes of Banswada area and 1 mcft to the Tagilepalli Summer Storage Tank.

The State government took the correct decision on time and released 310 million mcft water from the Nizam Sagar project, which was left with only 395 mcft of water, she added. The executive engineer said with this, the water at the Alisagar project has reached to its full level and it would cater the drinking water needs of Nizamabad Municipal Corporation and Bodhan Municipalities up to June, 20.
