Nizamabad: The Leftist parties comprising the CPM, CPI and CPI (ML) New Democracy and their student organizations like PDSU, SFI and AISF launched a three-day relay hunger strike at Dharna chowk in the town on Saturday as part of the state-wide agitation to dismiss the two Union Ministers Bandaru Dattatreya, and Smriti Irani from the Union government and immediately announce an additional ex-gratia to Rohith’s family.

Addressing the gathering, CPI (ML) New Democracy State Secretary V Prabhakar alleged that the two Union ministers and the Vice-chancellor of Hyderabad University P Apparao was indulging in caste- based politics in the University and were harming the interests of the dalit students. It would also affect the education system adversely, he added.

Prabhakar said that the University authorities caused lot of mental agony to the five dalit students by suspending them and it was unfortunate that they were not even allowed to enter into the hostels. As a result, Rohith Vemula was forced to commit suicide, he lamented.
