Condemn attack on Uttam Kumar Reddy and Shabbir Ali in Hyderabad

Warangal: The district Congress leaders resorted to a flash protest in Hanamkonda on Tuesday protesting the attack on the TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy and MLC Shabbir Ali by MIM activists in Old City in Hyderabad.

A large number of workers led by former mayor Errabelli Swarna have staged rasta roko at Hanamkonda junction and burnt an effigy of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) president and MP Asaduddin Owaisi. They shouted slogans against the MP and the State government.

Speaking to the media, Swarna strongly condemned the attack on Congress leaders and described it as an undemocratic act. The attack was made at the behest of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, she alleged.

During the Congress regime in the past, the party workers have never attacked the leaders of other parties. The Congress workers would not sit quiet and would give a fitting retort to the MIM and the Chief Minister if needed, she cautioned.

She demanded the home minister N Narsimha Reddy to initiate immediate measures to punish those involved in the attack against Uttam Kumar Reddy and Shabbir Ali. Otherwise serious agitations would be taken up across the state, she added.

Senior Congress leader E Varada Rajeshwar Rao, TPCC secretary B Srinivas and others were present.
