Khammam: District Collector and Election Officer D S Lokesh Kumar directed the Returning Officers to be alert for the smooth conduct of Khammam Municipal Corporation elections since the election notification would be issued on Monday.

The District Collector held a meeting with the Returning Officers (ROs) on receiving of nominations, at City Municipal office here on Sunday.

Lokesh Kumar ordered the ROs to check the nomination papers thoroughly whether the candidate had included all the required documents or not. They were told to paste the election notification on the notice boards of all government offices.

Only three candidates should be allowed to accompany the candidate at the time of filing nomination papers. The nomination papers should be checked clearly and notify the candidates of mistakes and blanks, if any. The candidates should be informed that nomination papers will be rejected if filled wrong. The candidates, who are filing nomination must not have any criminal background and must be enrolled as a voter under City Corporation limits, the Collector briefed.

Joint Collector D Divya, Additional Joint Collector K Babu Rao and City Municipal Commissioner Venugopal Reddy were present along with others.
