Hyderabad: The City Central Library- which is a hub for job aspirants- wore a different look on Wednesday with most of them raising slogans against the government. More than 200 job aspirants staged a day-long protest demanding the government to postpone Group II examination, scheduled on April 23 and 24.

  • Want Group-II exam to be postponed as the given time not sufficient for preparation
  • Demand more jobs and proper books to prepare for the exams

The protesters also demanded the government to scrap interview system for Group II posts. The job aspirants lamented that in wake of change in the syllabus and addition of some papers in the Group II examination, two months time would not suffice for preparation for the exam.

“After waiting for several months, syllabus was changed and enough time was not given for preparation. While the syllabus is announced by the Telangana State Public Service Commission, till date there is no book on sociology. Keeping this in the view, the government should postpone Group II by three months,” said K Thamby, Group II aspirant.

The government job aspirants lamented that though books were out in the market, they were full of mistakes. “The government has included a paper on Telangana movement in Group II examination. Though there are a few books available on Telangana movement in the market, they have a lot of mistakes including a book of Telugu Akademi,” said R Srikanth Goud, Group II aspirant.

Further, the protesters demanded the government to increase the post of Group II at least by 2000. They lamented that they have been waiting for large scale of notification in wake of formation of new state of Telangana and invested lakhs of rupees on coaching and the government had issued notification for a few posts. “The CM has promised to fill up at least one lakh jobs.

Though there are several thousands of posts lying vacant, the government has issued notification for only 439 posts. Such low number of posts has created a huge competition among students. The government should increase the posts and issue a notification,” averred N Babu, a Group II aspirant.

Another aspirant K Kiran Kumar said he has been avioidng his family as he was being questioned by his family members about his job status. “My parents invested nearly Rs 2 lakh on my coaching classes and they are now questioning about my government job. I do not know what I should tell them so I decided not to go home till I crack one,” he added. The job aspirants also wanted the government to do away with weightage for English in the SI recruitment examination.
