An awareness camp on cervical cancer for women was held at the primary health centre in the mandal headquarters on Tuesday.  Addressing the gathering, Medical Officer Dr Dilip Kumar said that   society would develop only if the women were healthy. He said that it was unfortunate that  1.22 lakh women were dying due to cervical cancer. 

Birkur (Nizamabad): An awareness camp on cervical cancer for women was held at the primary health centre in the mandal headquarters on Tuesday. Addressing the gathering, Medical Officer Dr Dilip Kumar said that society would develop only if the women were healthy. He said that it was unfortunate that 1.22 lakh women were dying due to cervical cancer.

On the occasion medical tests were conducted on 72 women and among these, 7 women tested positive for cervical cancer. Banswada ICDS community development project officer Anuradha, community health officer Satyanarayana, ICDS supervisors Vijayalakshmi, Vani, Neelaveni and others were present.
