Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K Taraka Rama Rao on Thursday approved Rs 2,008-crore budget for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) for 2016-17. The budget was approved during the 6th authority meeting, which is conducted for the first time after formation of Telangana state.

MAUD Minister KT Rama Rao shows interest in making master plan for the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) area. “SCB does not come under HMDA purview. We want to give assistance to SCB in making master plan suitable for the Hyderabad development,” he said.

Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K Taraka Rama Rao on Thursday approved Rs 2,008-crore budget for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) for 2016-17. The budget was approved during the 6th authority meeting, which is conducted for the first time after formation of Telangana state.

Addressing the media after the meet, the MAUD Minister said that the major development of Hyderabad is in the hands of the HMDA and many significant investments were going to happen in the HMDA region in coming years. “Our government is focused in making Hyderabad a world class place and streamlining of the developments and providing the best infrastructural facilities in HMDA area is our first priority,” he said.

The 13 growth corridors along the Outer Ring Road have already been proposed where the HMDA would focus more, he added.The Minister giving preferences for the integrated master plan for the entire HMDA region said that he has given instructions to make a unified master plan within three months of time. “We have five existing master plans which would be made into one,” he said.

KT Rama Rao also showed interest in making of master plan for the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) area. “SCB does not come under HMDA purview. We want to give assistance to SCB in making of master plan suitable for the Hyderabad development,” he said.

The online building and layout permissions system in the HMDA region would be made more convenient and the services of panchayat secretaries and Mee Seva would be utilised to create awareness among public, he added. Speaking on the major challenge faced by the HMDA on income tax issue, the Minister said that the HMDA was a government body and it does not come under I-T purview.
