State committed to help farm sector: Tummala

Khammam: Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswar Rao has on Friday announced that farm sector will get nine-hour power supply from Friday. Launching the Eruvaka programme at Manchukonda village under Raghunathapalem mandal, the Minister said as was promised by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, farmers will get nine-hour power supply from Ugadi.

“Arrangements have been made to supply six hours in the day and three hours in the nights,” he said, stating that the government was committed to the welfare of the farmers. Referring to the famine conditions in the district, the Minister said that as many as 860 tanks have been developed under Mission Kakatiya programme and the works of desilting another 900 tanks with an outlay of Rs 350 crore are in progress.

He advised the farmers not to depend entirely on cotton cultivation as it involved risk factors. In another programme, the Minister said that the government had sanctioned Rs 5.58 crore for the development of Maddulapalli village. SC Corporation Chairman Pidamarthi Ravi, Zilla Parishad Chairperson G Kavitha, MLC Balasani Laxminarayana and DCCB Chairman Muvva Vijay Babu were among others present.
