Special programmes are planned at historic Bhadrakali temple and Sri Rudreshwara Swamy 1000 Pillar temple on Friday, marking Telugu New Year festival Ugadi. At Bhadrakali temple, week-long celebrations were planned, beginning on April 8 to 15, on which Sri Rama Navami would be celebrated, informed the temple Executive Officer, Katta Anjani Devi.

Ugadi celebrations would begin with Kalasa Stapana and ‘Panchanga Sravanam’ at 6 pm on Friday. On April 10, there would be Dolotsavam, on April 11 Lakshmi Puja and on April 14 Bhavani Astami would be celebrated. On April 15, the celestial marriage of Lord Rama and Sita would be celebrated. At Thousand Pillar temple, rendering of Telugu Almanac would be take place at 5.30 pm.

Endowments department is organising special devotional programmes and cultural programme wherein artistes would perform Kuchipudi and Bharata Natyam dance. Meanwhile, the students of Rural Development Foundation’s (RDF) Kalleda High School at at Kalleda village of Parvathagiri mandal in the district, held celebrations marking ‘Durmukhi’ Telugu New Year.

The students performed ‘Panchanga Sravanam’ and other activities. The School Headmaster T Sridhar, education in-charge R Ashoka Chary, E Vasantha Rao of RDF and others were present. On Thursday, Deputy CM K Srihari, Tourism Minister A Chandulal, MP A Seetaram Naik, Warangal (West) MLA D Vinay Bhasker, DCC Bank chairman J Raghava Reddy and others have extended Ugadi greetings to people in the district.
