Karimnagar: Devotees from various parts of Telangana made a beeline have darshan of Anjaneya Swamy in Kondagattu to mark the three-day Hanuman Jayanti which concluded on Tuesday. The forest area abutting the town became a beehive of activity and turned saffron.

  • Three-day Hanuman Jayanti concludes on Tuesday
  • About three lakh have Darshan

The largest number of Hanuman devotees take up ‘deeksha’ during the Jayanti in Telangana after those worshipping Lord Ayyappa. It is only in Kondagattu where the devotees perform ‘Mala Viramana’ programme, as also in Bhadrachalam. During the last three days, about three lakh devotees had ‘darshan’, said the temple archaea's, who performed special pooja since 3 am on Tuesday.

The temple officials, who offered silk ‘vastrams’ to the Lord to mark the Jayanti, organised rituals like ‘Abishekam’, ‘Dravida Prabanda Parayanam’, ‘Tulasi Dalarchana’, ’Purnahuti’ for the benefit of the pilgrims. The devotees, chanting ‘Jai Hanuman’, ‘Jai Sriram’ slogans, walked their way to reach Kondagattu from their respective native places. They virtually swarmed the nearby highway.

The special galleries for the devotees carrying ‘irumudi’ were packed. The police provided large-scale security. Water supply was arranged for the devotees. Four hanuman devotees sustained serious injuries when their auto was involved in an accident near Anantaram in Jagtiyal Mandal.

The injured, identified by the police as residents of Molkmalagudam, were shifted to the government hospital here for treatment. The mishap occurred near the village when nine persons were returning from Kondagattu to Warangal.
