Telangana Formation Day celebrations were launched here on Wednesday with a festive spirit. The celebrations began with a massive ‘Job Mela’ under the aegis of Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC). The mela was held in association with Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) for the benefit of the youth in the district at Nandana Gardens.

The celebrations began with a massive ‘Job Mela’ under the aegis of Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC). The mela was held in association with Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) for the benefit of the youth in the district at Nandana Gardens.

Telangana Formation Day celebrations begin

Nearly 40 private companies took part in the mela and conducted job interviews to fill up around 1,000 vacancies available across the State, with majority of them in Hyderabad. Mayor N Narender said the job mela was held as a gift to the unemployed youth of Warangal to find a livelihood marking Telangana Formation Day.

Through MEPMA it was planned to organise training programmes for youth to find placements in various companies. The GWMC planning set up ‘Employment Tower’ to provide information on jobs for the youth, he informed. MLA D Vinay Bhasker speaking on the occasion said the State government was making serious efforts to provide employment to youth and lauded the initiative by the GWMC in holding the job mela.

There has been a huge response to the mela as large number of job aspirants turned up for the interviews. Companies offering IT services, non-technical and technical, pharmaceuticals, health and marketing took part in the mela, MEPMA Project Director Venkateshwar Rao said.

On the day all the government employees led by district collector V Karuna taken out a massive candle light rally from the district collectorate to Telangana Martyrs Memorial and offered homage to the martyrs and proceeded towards Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (JNS) in Hanamkonda.

Assembly speaker S Madusudhana Chary, Deputy CM K Srihari, MLA D Vinay Bhasker, ZP chairperson G Padma, MLA K Surekha rural SP AK Jha and others also joined the rally and offered homage to Telangana Martyrs. Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu led a candle light rally from the Commissionerate office to the Martyrs Memorial.

The Commissioner has on the day inaugurated a newly constructed meeting hall at the district police headquarters. Summer sports were organised for children along with Rangoli and ‘Batukamma’ competitions for women and girls at JN Stadium, where during evening hours cultural programmes took place followed by bursting of crackers and release of sky lanterns during mid-night hour.

On June 2 after the flag hoisting, massive bike rally with 100 metres national flag would be taken out GWMC premises in Warangal to Public Gardens and Telangana Food Festival would be held at JNS.
