Hyderabad: Telangana government will soon come up with an NRI policy to help youth who aspire for jobs in foreign land, especially in the Gulf countries. The policy is aimed at protecting the aspirants from fly-by-night agents.

The policy will take into consideration of providing assistance to those who get injured or die during performing their duties at their work place and bring them back them to their native place. Information Technology Minister K Tarakarama Rama Rao,

who returned from the US after two-week long official tour, on Saturday said important elements of NRI policies of Kerala and Punjab governments should be incorporated in Telangana's policy.

KTR said the draft policy would be forwarded to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for final approval. The policy would also promote NRI investments required for industrial and economical development. A meeting would be conducted next week with NGOs working for NRI welfare and all the agencies concerned to discuss the new policy.

The officials of Labour Department would also be invited for the meeting. Officials have been asked to study the existing NRI policies in other states particularly in Kerala and Punjab from where people migrate to foreign countries for their livelihoods.

In the recent times, many cases had come to light where the agents were cheating gullible youth with lucrative job offers and have been collecting huge money. In some instances they were stranded and in some instances they were attacked in foreign countries.
