Khammam: The State government is flouting the norms of Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, Telangana Rythu Sangham state general secretary Bonthala Chandra Reddy said.

Addressing the land oustees of the Sri Ram Sagar Phase-II here on Tuesday, he alleged that the government is bulldozing the rights of farmers to acquire land from them.

“It was a brazen violation of Land acquisition Act, 2013,” Reddy said, accusing the government for not giving compensation on the lines of the Act. The government, which has to pay three times of the market value, is not even providing the farmers the original land value that is anywhere between Rs 12 lakh to Rs 20 lakh per acre, he said.

“TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao, who supported Land Acquisition Act, when he was the member of the Lok Sabha in 2013, is now trying to acquire land by implementing GO 123,” Reddy said, also criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for protecting the interests of the corporate sector.

Referring to the High Court’s observations that State government’s GO 123 was illegal, the Rythu Sangham Khammam district general secretary Nunna Nageswar Rao said that it would open the eyes of the rulers. He found fault with the revenue officials for taking possession of land under Sri Ram Sagar phase-II without executing an agreement with the farmers. He alleged that TRS cadres are threatening the farmers to give away their land to government.

Demanding the government to provide compensation under Land acquisition Act, 2013, Rao warned the government to launch agitations besides moving the court.

Rythu Sangham district president Madineni Ramesh, senior leaders Mallela Sanmata Rao, Gudavarthi Nageswar Rao, Bikkasani Gangadhar, Bingi Ramsh, Tulluri Nageswar Rao, Sudarshan Reddy and Angirekula Narsaiah were present.
