​Warangal: The district administration is gearing up for conducting civil services preliminary examination to be held for the first time in Warangal on August 7.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has selected Warangal to conduct the exam from this year onwards. To review the arrangements, the UPSC additional secretary (examinations) Maruthi Prasad Tangirala held a video conference from New Delhi with district officials here on Wednesday.

During the conference, District Collector V Karuna said they were fully equipped in terms of experience and infrastructure to conduct the test. The district officials have gained ample experience by conducting all India examination like JEE and it would help to conduct the UPSC exam smoothly.

Warangal as a test centre would be a great convenience to the civil services aspirants here, she said and thanked the Commission for selecting the district to hold the test. 10, 585 candidates have opted Warangal as test centre. The test would be held at 23 centres in 19 locations.

Section 144 would be imposed at the exam centres along with tight security arrangements, the Collector said. Maruthi Prasad has asked the Collector, Karuna to apprise supervisors about the UPSC guidelines and deploy five-member police team at each test centre. An observer of the Commission would visit the district two days ahead of the examination to review the arrangements.
