For the implementation of the Swachh Bharat programme in an innovative manner, the State government has selected Nizamabad as a role model and an ideal district for other districts to emulate.

In this connection, the State government has decided to send the District Collector Yogitha Rana to the two-day conference at Raipur in Chattisgadh starting from Friday.
Going into details, the Nizamabad district is way ahead of others in the successful implementation of the Swachh Bharat campaign in making the district completely clean and it has gained recognition at the national level. The local people’s representatives, the members of Self-Help-groups, and government employees have jointly undertaken to implement the programme taking the village as unit.
They are going around enlightening the people about the need to construct individual toilets.
As part of the swachh bharat campaign, bathrooms and toilets were also being constructed with individual families becoming partners. For distributing buckets, phenol and brushes, Rs 900 were being collected from individual beneficiaries and deposited in gram jyothy committees.
They are digging magic soak pits, water harvesting pits and dumping yards in the premises of houses. They are also pressing into service 177 cycle rickshaws to remove the garbage. It has also sanctioned 1077 dumping yards. Among the 80 gram panchayat villages, 65 villages have already been open defecation free.
