Hyderabad: The private hospitals, which have been on strike over pending bills of Aarogyasri scheme, called off their strike late on Monday night.

The Telangana government released Rs 100 crore on Monday as talks between the representatives of private hospitals, the Telangana Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (THANA) and the government proved successful.

The private hospitals had gone on strike since June 29. The remaining amount of Rs 200 crore would be released within a month, Health Minister Laxma Reddy assured the private hospitals’ management. A committee was formed under the chairmanship of NIMS director to look into issues such as revision of packages, MoU and how to improve Aarogyasri services.

The committee comprises vice-chancellor of Kaloji University of Health Sciences, CEO of Aarogyasri, two members from network hospitals and two more members from corporate hospitals. The committee would be submitting a report on July 31.

Health checkups have been removed and replaced by specialised camps. The officials felt that there was enough awareness among the people on Aarogyasri services.
