The three-day World Telangana Conference kick-starts today
Detroit: A two-hour-long song and drama titled ‘Telangana Chartitra’ depicting the rule of Kakatiyas, the Nizams, the Telangana arms struggle and the recent Telangana agitation and special puja of Laksmhinarasimha Swamy of Yadadri will be the main attraction at the first ever World Telangana Conference beginning from July 8.
The show, featuring 60 children is specially choreographed for the occasion by famous Telangana poet and lyricist Suddala Ashok Teja, will be staged at the banquet hall on Friday. Saturday will be the spiritual day with the performance of Lakshminarasimha Swamy puja by the priests from Yadadri. Idols and special prasadams are being flown from Yadadri for the occasion.
In the meantime ,the suburban centre in Novi City of Detroit, the venue for the World Telangana convention, is being spruced up as barely 48 hours left for the deadline. A high level meeting of 50 different committees consisting of 200 people met for over three hours took stock of the situation at Century Hotel here to make last minute efforts to cover the gaps. The organisers are burning midnight oil to make the first Telangana conference a grand success.
Addressing the media, president of the American Telangana Association (ATA) Konda Ram Mohan Reddy said Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari and Telangana State Legislative Council Chairman Swami Goud respectively will inaugurate and preside over the inaugural function on Friday. A host of politicians including Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddyand Nizamabad MP K Kavitha will attend the conference.
Co-convenor of the programme Vindo Kuknoor said they had roped in film stars Kajol Agarwal who created a sensation at Chicago conference last week, and Richa Gangopadhyay of ‘Kick’ and ‘Mirchi’ fame to add glamour quotient to the conference. In fact Richa, a Bengali by birth, is from Detroit and had done her masters in a university here. Salim Feku of ‘Angrez’ fame is being invited to add Hyderabadi flavour to the programme. A replica of iconic Charminar will be set up at the conference venue showcasing the Hyderabadi culture.
Stating that they were expecting some 7,000 Telangana delegates from all over America, Kuknoor said massive arrangements were being made to make the first ever Telangana conference a roaring success. Telugu film music directors Anup Ruben and Karthk will render catchy numbers on Saturday. A special procession depicting Telangana festivals like Bonalu and Bathukamma led by Telangana Jagruthi chairperson Kavitha will be the main attraction.
A 20-member troop led by Rasmayi Balakishan will render Telangana folk songs. ln all, 50 cultural shows and skits involving local talent will be organised promoting the rich Telangana culture during the three-day conference. Special Telangana dishes like Hyderabadi biryani, haleem, dalcha and pacchipulsu will be served on the occasion. Special exhibition on Telangana culture and Telangana products will be displayed at the meet.
