Warangal: The citizens, officials and leaders have been voluntarily taking part in the State government’s flagship programme ‘Telangana Haritha Haram’ in the district.

The development committees of residential colonies in the tri-cities of Warangal-Hanamkonda-Kazipet have been conducting plantation programmes enthusiastically involving the colony residents.

The central crime station police and Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation corporator Sobiya Sobahat have adopted 31st division and have conducted plantation programme at Tiger Hills Colony near Hunter Road.

TRS minority wing president Md Nayeemuddin, CCS circle inspector K Sridhar, SIs Suman and Srinivas Naik, ZP cooption member Abdul Nabi, leaders Srinivas Raju, Vaddiraju Kalyan and others took part in the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, corporator Sabahat called upon the residents in the division to plant at least one sapling in their houses during the Haritha Haram. Preference should be given in planting fruit bearing plants.

Similarly, the members of Hanuman Nagar Phase-I Colony Welfare Association taken up a plantation drive in the colony and all planted as many as 500 saplings. Traffic ACP Venkateswar Rao, who took part in the programme as a guest, appreciated the association’s efforts to improve green cover.

The association honorary president M Shankar Narayana, president K Srinivas Reddy, members M Ramesh, Ch Venkateshwar Reddy, the local municipal corporator Jakkula Venkateshwaralu and others took part in the programme.

Doing their part for the success of Haritha Haram, the leaders and members of 136-year-old Centenary Baptist Church located in Hanamkonda have planted saplings at the church, Baptist Community Centre and Health Centre.

The church senior pastor GJ Niranjan Babu, pastors JEB Nelson, M Gabriel, Ch Michael, secretary T Christopher Reuben, the health centre superintendent M Kumaraswamy and others addressed a gathering on the occasion.

They called upon the church members to take lead and plant as many saplings as possible. It might be noted that on July 8, nearly 13 lakh saplings were planted while on July 9, as many as nine lakh saplings were planted.

On Sunday, a total of seven lakh saplings were planted all over the district.
