Hyderabad: Congress party has decided to write a letter to Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary demanding that a special session be convened for allowing them to make a PowerPoint Presentation (PPT) to counter Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s presentation on irrigation projects during the recent Budget session.

During an informal chat with mediapersons on Tuesday, TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the party was doubtful about the TRS government holding a monsoon session this year. “We want to expose the lies of the ruling party on irrigation projects,” he said.

“If the Speaker denies us permission, the presentation would be arranged at a big hall in the city. We welcome everybody; not only K Kavitha, but also KCR for the presentation,” he said in reply to a query. “We will ask the speaker to convene a special session and permit CLP to present its own version on different projects being taken up by the state government,” the TPCC
president said.

Rythu Garjana on July 30
The TPCC chief informed that the party would be holding ‘Rythu Garjana’ on July 30, after the party’s coordination meeting which would be attended by AICC general secretary, Digvijay Singh. Prior to this, a public meeting and parliamentary party meeting will also be held in Peddapally, Karimnagar district on July 24. He said that the party, which has kept quite till now would be taking up the issues of farmers seriously throughout the State.

After deliberations during the last few days, it was decided to pressurise the government through protest programmes throughout the state over pressing issues related to agriculture, including loan waiver, input subsidy and other benefits to farmers and the burning issue of Mallannasagar.

On the government’s proposal for district’s reorganisation, Uttam Kumar alleged that the ruling party was aiming to achieve political benefits through this, where districts could be distributed amongst his family members and to those who are close to him.

He expressed doubt that the government would be taking up reorganisation ‘scientifically’ by considering various aspects, as there is also a proposal of delimitation of Assembly constituencies. “How would the government fulfil the dearth of 15,000 officers, when we already lack government staff?” he wondered.

He expressed doubts over the claims of government in planting 46 crore saplings this year. “It is like the claim of KCR, who on one occasion said that he had studied about 80,000 books. I have serious doubts about Haritha Haram funds ending up in wrong hands,” he said.
