Hyderabad: Members of Bar Council Telangana region called on Governor E S L Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan on Thursday seeking his intervention in expediting the process of bifurcation of the High Court and to set aside ‘option’ formula being followed for allocation of judicial officers.
In their memorandum to the governor, Bar Council Chairman A Narasimha Reddy and members requested the governor to see that the orders suspending the judicial officers are revoked.
“As the constitutional head of both the states, we deem it your prerogative to seize the matter and call for a meeting of the chief ministers of both the states in order to ensure expeditious implementation of the orders of HC with respect to bifurcation of High Court.
We also request you to address the issue of allocation of judicial officers for both states implementing the guidelines date 26.02.2016. We further request your excellency to see that the orders suspending the judicial officers are revoked,” the memorandum stated.
Speaking to the media, Bar Association president Gandra Mohan Rao said that the governor had asked them to withdraw their strike. He said that they informed the governor about the injustice meted out to Telangana judicial officers, lawyers and employees.
He said the association members conveyed to the governor that they would resume duties only after getting a clear assurance on the issues raised by them.
On the other hand, tension prevailed at VIII Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court at Upparpally, Rajender Nagar when some lawyers staged protest on the court premises against the suspension of Telangana judges.
They obstructed the entry of judges and raised slogans. The agitators jostled with police when the latter tried to disperse the agitating lawyers.
