Khammam: The war of words have continued between the ruling TRS and the Congress parties over the irrigation projects with Deputy Floor Leader in the Council Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy questioning the rationale behind Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao’s criticism against their party leaders.

Addressing a press conference at the Sanjeeva Reddy Bhavan here on Friday, Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy said that it was not proper to criticise the Congress party which was raising pertinent questions over redesigning of irrigation projects.

“The TRS government is intentionally not allocating adequate funds to some projects even though they are on the verge of completion as these projects were initiated during the Congress regime,” he said.

Even though 90 per cent of Indira Sagar Project works were completed, the TRS government shelved it for vested interests, he alleged.
Referring to his Wednesday’s Deeksha (protest) demanding the government that it address the farmers’ issues, Reddy said that TRS leaders have zero tolerance towards protests of Opposition party leaders.

He said that TRS chief and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao should remember his roots in the Congress party which gave him political life. “It was due to the initiative of the AICC president Sonia Gandhi, Telangana State was formed,” he said.

He also questioned the rationale behind changing the names of irrigation projects named after former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi who sacrificed their lives for the cause of nation.

He warned the TRS to stop anti-people policies.DCC president Aitham Satyam, TPCC official spokesperson Katla Ranga Rao, Minority Cell district convener Md Fazal, Youth Congress State secretary Ramisetty Manohar Naidu, Raparthi Sharath Kumar and ST Cell convener Balaji were present.
