​Hyderabad: Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy on Wednesday visited the Mahankali temple at Mir-Alam-Mandi in the city and performed puja to Goddess Pochamma.

He highlighted the significance of Bonalu festival celebrated at Akkanna-Madanna temple in Hari Bowli, of Goddess Simhavahini at Laldarwaja and goddess Mahankali in Mir-Alam-Mandi.

Stating that Hyderabad is a symbol of communal harmony where Hindus and Muslims celebrate Ramzan and Bonalu together, he ruled out any threat to law and order and said the State’s police officers were appreciated nationwide.

He said that the police were acting in tandem with the National Investigation Agency to check terrorism.

The Minister appealed to the people to celebrate Bonalu peacefully on a grand scale.

Earlier, the Home Minister was extended a traditional reception and presented with a turban by the temple management.
