Warangal: Gangadevipally, the tiny village that boasts all the ingredients of economic development and facilities that invariably draws the neighbours’ envy, is back in the news becoming the first village in the district to have the surveillance network of the CCTV cameras. Thanks to the initiative of the Police Commissioner, G Sudheer Babu, who made it possible when the locals wanted the digital eye surveillance in their village.

It may be noted here that the village, which has been a cynosure of all eyes for the past decade, catching the eye of many a people from across the globe is in forefront of development. Hitherto, only some mandal headquarters in the district have the luxury of CCTV camera
surveillance.

The alcohol-free village, which achieved cent per cent developmental activities like having Any Time Water (ATW) kiosk that caters to the protected drinking water needs of the villagers, CC roads, education, family planning, life insurance and tax collection, has made Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to visit their panchayat last year.

The village gives me the feeling of visiting a temple,” G Sudheer Babu said, who inspected the installation of CCTV cameras and its transmission at the Gram Panchayat Office. Gangadevipalli is pride of the nation, he said, referring to the all round development in the village.

Thanking the Commissioner, Sarpanch Itta Shanti told The Hans India: “Of the Rs 10 crore announced by the CM for the development of the village, works on internal and link roads have been completed.”

After the technicians fitted 8 of the total 16 cameras, the Commissioner watched the live feed at the control room. Later, he said that the feed of the cameras will be linked to the Geesukonda police station soon. The total cost of the CCTV cameras and other equipment is around Rs 2 lakh.

Later, he along with the villagers participated in the plantation drive. Around 6,000 saplings have been planted and another 4,000 would be taken up later, the Commissioner said.
