Gajwel: The inauguration of Mission Bhageeratha works by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 7 will provide water to as many as 243 villages in Gajwel constituency.

Of the three constituencies in Gajwel segment, which consists of Siddipet, Gajwel and Dubbak, works have been completed only in Gajwel constituency excluding the municipal areas. Gajwel is just one of the 26 segments where the prestigious project is being implemented.

According to Vijay Prakash, Superintending Engineer, Rural Water Supply (RWS), 60 villages have already been receiving water through the grid and water is being supplied to municipal areas of the constituency, even though tap fitting work is still pending in the town.

More than 60,000 households in Gajwel, Jagdevpur, Kondapaka, Mulugu, Toopran and Wargal mandals are expected to get water through gravity, as released from the Ground Level Balancing Reservoir (GLBR) and Over Head Balancing Reservoirs (OHBR) located on the Komatibanda hillock.

The water-grid works in Siddipet and Dubbak constituencies are in various stages of progress. Of the total 590 villages in Gajwel segment, water will be supplied to 243 villages fromAugust 7. This means, 50 per cent of work has been completed in Gajwel segment.

According to officials, clear water would be pumped to the 14,000 KL GLBR, 550 KL and 150 KL OHBRs on Komatibanda hillock using pump sets. From there, water would be supplied to Gajwel constituency, Gajwel municipality, Dubbak constituency and Dubbak municipality through gravity.

The goal of the project is to supply 100 litres per capita per day (LPCD) to all rural habitations, 135 LPCD to all municipalities/ nagar panchayats and 150 LPCD to all municipal corporations, officials said.
