Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team formed under supervision of IG Y Nagi Reddy has sped up the probe in the case of pulling out the illegal activities of former Maoist turned gangster Nayeemuddin, who died in an exchange of fire with the police at Shadnagar on August 8.
After the SIT officials appealed to the public to come forward and complain about the illegal and criminal activities of Nayeem, the officials received 60 calls from various places in Telugu states. Most of the calls were from the victims of land grabbing and extortion.
“An in-depth analysis of the material seized from Nayeem’s house in Alkapuri Township in Narsingi police station limits, indicates that Nayeem had 20 houses in his name at various places in Telangana.
He and his associates killed Nadeem alias Vijay Kumar and one Nasreen. Two of his relatives Heena and her daughter Chiyan also have been missing from a long time and it is suspected that Nayeem would have killed them,” said SIT in-charge and IG Y Nagi Reddy.
“Nayeem used women as cover so that he does not get identified by the police. Sometimes, he travelled by wearing women’s clothes to evade police checking. One such picture was recovered by the SIT officials during investigation.
“He used women and children as human shield,” IG Nagi Reddy said. The officer said that the SIT control room received 60 complaints in two days. The victims were asked to complain at the local police stations and the case details would be sent to SIT for probe.
“Four new cases were also booked against Nayeem and his associates at Korutla and Karimnagar (rural) police stations based on the complaints of extortion. “His associates and arrested Tech Madhu alias Tekke and Revella Srinivas have done settlements in Chhattisgarh. We also found that he used to harass and sexually assault minor girls for his pleasure,” Reddy said.
