Nizamabad: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday asserted that the TRS government would give more compensation, besides extending assistance to them, than the previous Congress regimes to the people affected by irrigation projects taken up in the State. Rao claimed that the State would turn green with the completion of the Mallannasagar project.

He blamed the Congress governments for their actions in Nizamsagar project, which had abundant water, going dry, while addressing a meeting in Srinivasa Engineering College, near Munipalli, after laying the foundation for the additional works of the Gutpa lift irrigation scheme in Jakranpalli mandal of Armur constituency. He questioned as to why the Congress party was holding ‘rythu garjana’ meeting in Adilabad district.

The Minister exhorted farmers to be affected by Mallannasagar reservoir to chase away the opposition parties for creating hurdles in completion of the project by organising the garjana. MP K Kavitha told the meeting that ‘injustice’ was done to farmers of Nizamabad when the Singur water was diverted to Hyderabad.

She said farmers would be benefited by the Mallannasagar project. The MP hit out at AICC general secretary in-charge of Telangana for his ‘incoherent’ comments regarding the State. She accused the Congress of taking up the protest programme only for securing mileage.
