Neetu Prasad is the only Collector from the State and one among the 22 others country-wide to get the invite from the Union Ministry of Rural Development to attend the Swachh Bharat Champions Meeting in Delhi on August 25.
Karimnagar: Success doesn't happen overnight. It needs a lot of perseverance and hard work. Neetu Prasad is one of those Collectors, who always think one step ahead like a carpenter building stairs. Thus put Karimnagar atop in Telangana State for making rapid strides towards Open Defecation Free (ODF) district.

With three Assembly constituencies out of a total 13 in the district already achieving the distinction of having 100 per cent individual sanitary latrines (ISLs), two more segments–Huzurabad and Jagtial–are ready to join the club, and with an overall achievement of 79 per cent ISLs in the district, Karimnagar caught the eye of Central government. With 79 per cent achievement in ISLs against the State average of 41 per cent, Karimnagar stood first in the State.
Beginning with Sircilla segment last year, the Collector quickly added Vemulawada and Peddapally constituencies to the ODF list. In her endeavour, she involved all the district departments and set up targets besides seeking the support of people’s representatives. She conducted village, mandal and constituency-level meetings and field visits at regular intervals to ensure that the set targets were achieved.
Speaking to The Hans India, RWS Superintendent Engineer TS Prakash Rao said: “The Collector set a target of achieving 100 per cent ODF in the district by year end. This apart, she wants the administration to focus on campaigning on usage of ISLs, not just construction.”
According to officials, while Huzurabad and Manakondur segments have achieved 70 per cent and close to be declared ODF, all other constituencies in the district have achieved over 50 per cent construction of ISLs.
In all, there are 6.76 lakh households in the district, of which 1.66 lakh households are yet to get ISLs.It may be noted here that Peddapally not only achieved 100 per cent ISLs, but also has achieved 100 per cent toilets and soak pits.
