Hyderabad: Criticising Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for signing water pact with Maharashtra, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief Uttam Kumar Reddy on Wednesday alleged that KCR had belittled the Telangana, State, which was achieved with lot of sacrifices.

Reacting to the comments made by the Chief Minister at Begumpet airport on his return from Mumbai, the TPCC chief held that KCR had surrendered the interests of Telangana to Maharashtra. Skirting a direct reply to the challenge thrown by KCR on Tammidihatti project agreement, the TPCC president said KCR’s warning to the opposition parties was reflection of how low he could fall for achieving authoritarianism.

Uttam said by agreeing to reduce project height from 152 meters to 148 meters over Godavari, KCR had deceived the people of Telangana. He wondered as to how the estimations for the project cost went up from Rs 38,000 crores to Rs 83,000 crores. Uttam further questioned the single tenders awarded for Palamuru project for seven packages. “This is a clear case of misappropriation of funds for helping contractors. Is it not corruption?” Uttam questioned.

He said Congress was ready for an open discussion on Telangana projects. “KCR has been taking decisions unilaterally and acting as dictator of Telangana. We will reveal all the facts about agreements on Godavari projects shortly,” he added.

Meanwhile, TDP working president A Revanth Reddy dared KCR to file criminal cases against him, as he has all the facts about earlier deal with the Maharashtra government. He described this agreement with Maharashtra as ‘Maha Fraud’, as it would put an additional burden of Rs 50,000 crore on the State. “KCR indulged in a deal to quench his thirst for wealth,” Revanth alleged.

The TDP leader also challenged the Chief Minister for an open debate over various projects and the process of tenders being adopted by the government in the name of development.
