Hyderabad: The Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation would soon organize an international meeting in Hyderabad, to make out plans to promote and attract tourists from across the globe. Speaking to media at LB Stadium during second anniversary celebrations of formation of TSTDC, Chairman and former DGP P Ramulu said “Since the new state of Telangana has formed, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has given utmost importance to the tourism sector and has also released huge funds to develop and restore the heritage of the state.”
In the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, tourism destinations and heritage structures in Telangana region were neglected. After Telangana state was formed, the department has received funds of about Rs 480 crore. “Very soon, a meeting will be held by the TSTDC in which over 1,000 delegates from 186 countries will take part.,” the Chairman said adding that the footfall of the tourists has increased to 1.2 crore in 2015, which was about 60 lakh earlier.
TSTDC Managing Director Christina Z Chongthu said “The department is focusing more on building tourism infrastructure in the state. The Hussain Sagar water fleet has bagged a record collection of Rs 8 lakh on one day. We have projects worth Rs 375 crore in pipeline and they all will be executed to set a benchmark of good impression among the tourists.”
The department also conducted various competitions for its employees in connection with the occasion and distributed prizes to the winners and runners. About 300 employees from various units of TSTDC in the state have participated in the events and celebrated the anniversary at LB Stadium on Monday.
