Hyderabad: The State government on Tuesday announced that it would be constituting the much-delayed BC Commission soon. The Commission would conduct a comprehensive study and recommend to the government on how to improve living standards and develop the BC communities in the State.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao who held a review meeting on the implementation of schemes launched for the welfare of BCs with BC Welfare Minister J Ramanna and officials, asked the officials to prepare plans for the welfare of BCs as the government was ready to allocate funds in accordance with the requirement. The officials were instructed to begin the process for the creation of BC Commission at the earliest. The Commission would take up a study of socio-economic conditions of the BCs in the State.

He also announced that the BC residential schools would be opened in every Assembly constituency. These schools would provide quality education to all poor students of the backward communities. They would be established on par the SC, ST and minority residential institutions and would have all facilities, he said. The schools would start functioning from June 2017.

The Chief Minister asserted that only education would help the backward communities to grow in all walks of life in the society. Expressing unhappiness over the poor performance of the BC Study Circles meant to provide coaching for poor students appearing in competitive examinations, the Chief Minister instructed officials to come out with a concrete action plan to strengthen the study circles.
